When planning a big tropical vacation, perfect weather is paramount to a good time. Timing your trip to the ideal weather can be the defining factor between having an adventure and watching the rain from your resort. However wet weather is not all bad as some of the storms here are quite a spectacle in themselves!
When should you visit Costa Rica?
There’s no bad time to visit Costa Rica. Holidays in this tropical paradise fit any schedule as all seasons offer exciting and different experiences.
Costa Rica has a dry season from November to April. This season has the best weather if you want to be outside all day. Dry season is also the peak time for holiday makers, so it may not be the best time to holiday in Costa Rica if you want to avoid crowds.
The rainy season brings vibrant foliage in midsummer for forest lovers. The rain will usually only arrive in the afternoon, giving you dry mornings to explore. This time of year also brings the best surf to the Pacific coast where Kalon Surf makes its home.
How many days should you stay?
Costa Rica may be a small country, but it’s overflowing with attractions. Natural wonders such as volcanoes and waterfalls are all over Costa Rica. Holidays here should be at least five days to give you time to visit a range of different locations.
You could spend two weeks or even two months in Costa Rica and still not run out of things to see.
Here at Kalon Surf, we recommend you stay at least a week – which is the length of our all-inclusive surf coaching retreat! Whether you come in the dry or wet season, we always think it’s the best time to holiday in Costa Rica. We surf year-round, no matter the weather.
What can you do in Costa Rica?
