When my husband asked me if I wanted to go on a surf trip I was a little hesitant. We had been on 4 surf trips before but most of the time within 15–20 minutes I would be sitting on the beach watching him surf because I was too nervous and inexperienced to enjoy myself in the waves — and in turn this would ruin his surfing fun because he would be worried about me all the time. So this time we agreed to try a surf school. I did some research and found Kalon Surf.

After reading the reviews of past travelers we decided to give Kalon a try and I am so glad we did. Kalon met every expectation we had and more. The food was 5 stars, bravo to the cooks. The staff was incredibly nice and always willing to help you with whatever you needed. The view and property… all I can say is WOW!

The best part is that my husband was able to really enjoy his time in the water catching waves because Roberto was by my side the entire time coaching me.

All these things really made our stay amazing and that much more enjoyable. But honestly it's not the reason we went. I wanted to learn how to surf and my husband wanted to improve on the skills he already had. That is exactly what happened. Our surf coaches Roberto, Henry, and Diego are amazing.

I learned so much from them. I may have been a beginner on the first day but by the last day I felt like a pro. Yep — I was actually surfing! I was able to paddle out with my husband and catch wave after wave after wave.

Now I am obsessed with surfing. It's all I want to do! I must also say thank you to Charlie. He is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He made sure we had a great time and we will forever cherish the time we got to spend with him. By the last day, we felt like we had friends for life and cannot wait to go back!
