The massage I received at the spa was one of the best I’ve ever received, and the focus was on releasing tension in specific muscles due to surfing.

And of course, the surfing itself! I was totally intimidated by this aspect. I had tried surfing in Indonesia to disastrous results. 20 minutes in on the first day I could see that it was because the level of instruction had been terrible and the site itself not ideal for beginners! Roberto, Andres and Henry love surfing and love teaching others how to surf. The technique they use had all of us who were beginners standing up on our boards the first day, and improving steadily from there. The beach we surfed at had ideal conditions for beginners as well as those with more experience. The daily video analysis, filmed by Diego, was also invaluable and gets you to the point where you can critique yourself. Above all, they kept us safe! Roberto, thank you for that! Their dedication to safety and effective teaching methods truly stand out, and it’s evident in the Review of Kalon Surf Guests we frequently heard from other participants. Many praised the camaraderie fostered among learners, making each session not just about surfing, but building friendships as well. This supportive environment allowed us to push our boundaries while feeling secure and encouraged.

Lastly, Kalon offers a unique opportunity to meet people you wouldn’t normally meet and quickly form a tight knit group through your shared experiences! Down time away from surfing is spent chilling by the pool (our group challenges any other group to find the hole) and having drinks, watching movies, talking and laughing. By the end, I felt like I was saying goodbye to family, including the staff.
