Wellness at Kalon
Yoga, massage, food and the rainforest are part of your week.
A Few Words From Silene
I learned to surf at 29. A few years later I was pregnant with our first son, and then with our second. They are 10 and 8 now, and both of them surf. My doctor was fine with it, so I kept surfing through both pregnancies, close to shore on small days. In the water I still felt like myself.
My head is busy most of the time. The ocean is one of the few places where it goes quiet. After a session I can sit still for a while, which anyone who knows me will tell you is rare. Yoga quiets my head too. A massage does as well.
Building Kalon with Kjeld was a lot of hard work, and I learned what I need if I'm going to keep at it. I want our guests to have what they need too. We ask them a lot of questions, and when something doesn't work for them, we change it.
We are in the business of making people happy. We try very hard to make sure you are, and to think of what you need before you know you need it.

Yoga
We do yoga three times a week on an open-air deck in the jungle. Classes are for beginners and focus on stretching and breathing, which helps with stiff shoulders, hips and backs after paddling. The deck is open all day if you want to use it on your own.
If you want a week of surfing and yoga, see our surf and yoga retreat.
Spa Treatments
Every guest gets a one-hour relaxing massage, included in the price. You can book more during the week: deep tissue, hot stone, bamboo, facials and couples treatments. The treatment rooms face the jungle.
You can ask for extra massages and stretching sessions.
Food, Nature and Rest
Everything on this page is part of your week at Kalon, and most of it is included in the price. None of it is required. Partners and friends who don't want to surf are welcome too.
Food
Our chefs cook breakfast, a lunch on the beach and a three-course dinner every day. Some of the food grows in the gardens on the property. If you eat vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, tell us when you book and we will cook for you.
Rainforest
Kalon is on a 7.9-acre private property near Dominical, and most of it is rainforest. A trail goes from the grounds into primary rainforest. You often see toucans, monkeys and sloths on the property.
Rest
Wednesday is a rest day from surfing. It is a good day for a massage or a walk on the trail. There is no schedule you have to follow.
